The truth behind our new found love of Instagram and why it has to be done!
When I was younger, I never really minded having my photo taken—mainly because it would take months to develop the film, and you could just tear up any truly embarrassing shots! Posing wasn’t something we ever thought about much back then…
One of the biggest challenges for a small business today is staying visible on social media—especially when it comes to navigating the ever-changing Instagram algorithm. For us, Instagram is where we connect most directly with our customers. It’s also where we all tend to scroll away a spare hour in the evening, so it feels like a natural place to share more of ourselves.
We’ve been on Instagram from the beginning, but we’ve definitely been a bit slower to fully embrace it. That’s partly down to our own confidence—or lack of it—in front of the camera (hard to believe if you know us, we know!). But more than that, we've always been cautious about coming across as inauthentic. We can talk endlessly about Nooki in person, but put a camera in front of us and suddenly even the most heartfelt bits can sound a little rehearsed.
What we love most about the Instagrammers we follow is their mix of humour, personality, and passion. Whether it's the latest must-have leopard print or a miracle supplement, we buy in because it feels real, relatable—and fun.
Yes, we do use advertising to promote our products, but what really brings the brand to life is showing how we wear and style Nooki day-to-day. At least once a week, two of us turn up in the same outfit styled completely differently—and the same goes for the rest of the team. It's rare to spot a Nooki-free zone at HQ!
As we keep learning and evolving on social media, we’ll be sharing more of the real behind-the-scenes chaos at Nooki—not just the polished grid. It’s in those unfiltered moments that we feel most creative, so stick with us and enjoy the outtakes.
